THE SENSUALITY OF SEAMLESS

NAGNATA collaborated with The Woolmark Company to develop an original superfine Merino Wool performance fabrication. The seamless knitwear collection was designed with minimal seams and a high content of natural fibres for breathability, sustainability and a beautifully soft handfeel.

The technique of knitting fine gauge circular knit garments with high contents of Merino Wool and only minimal synthetics, is an innovative textile development for compression knitwear. Natural fibres tend to break easily in the machines when knitting for compression, stretch and support. The Nagnata designers worked closely with the yarn spinners, knitwear technicians and The Woolmark Company to test and develop the perfect blend of yarns and fabric construction for the launch of the Core performance line.

Nagnata is committed to keeping the use of synthetic fibres in the brand's movement knitwear to a minimum. This challenges the industry standard for sportswear garments which use predominantly high contents of synthetics. For the first performance collection Nagnata focused on using Merino Wool blended with Tencel (a fibre made by dissolving wood pulp) which led to launching an exciting new textile development to the market.

The second skin fabrication offers mid compression support without restricting the breath during practice and high intensity workouts. The natural technical properties of Merino Wool allow breathability and temperature regulating properties, meaning the fibre helps cool your body when you are hot, and provide warmth when your body is cold.

"In contrast to synthetics, wool is an active fibre that reacts to changes in the body’s temperature, keeping you comfortable. In warm environments, wool fabrics can feel up to two times cooler to touch than synthetic fabrics, because wool conducts more heat away from your skin" - The Woolmark Company Australian

Merino Wool is a natural, biodegradable and renewable fibre. At Nagnata we believe it matters what you put against your skin. Our skin is the largest organ of the body and it contains millions of pores, even if most of them are not visible to the human eye. All of these pores are open, allowing the skin to 'breathe'. Because the skin is porous it absorbs what we put on it. This includes the chemical residue in fibres from our clothes.

Synthetic fibres are man-made and derived mainly from petroleum. These petrochemicals are not something we want our skin absorbing, which is why we are focused on minimising or ideally completely avoiding the use of synthetics in our clothes. We have since begun using core spun yarns where possible, to avoid skin contact.

Nagnata is committed to continual textile and design innovation in the performance and streetwear markets with a strong focus on merino Wool and the ongoing partnership with The Woolmark Company.
