In 2019 we implemented Better Packaging into our e-commerce business. These bags are used to ship each order and are both biodegradable and compostable. Made from corn starch, PLA (synthesised from corn) and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate). This combination of materials represents a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional plastics, is non-toxic and contains no Phthalate or Bisphenol A (BPA).
All in store purchases and e-commerce orders over $300 are packaged in a reusable, unbleached organic cotton Nagnata tote bag. Our branded notecards are printed on 100% post consumer stock.
Nagnata has been able to significantly reduce the use of synthetics in our products, but it is the plastics that you don’t see that we are working to eliminate. Industry standards require garments to be individually wrapped for import and export. While the bags our garments are shipped in from the factory are recyclable, we are working with our suppliers on a compostable solution from 2021.
As technology advances, and removing virgin plastics from the fashion industry becomes attainable, we are thoughtfully reducing waste in each part of the Nagnata business.
