AN AUTUMN AFTERNOON AT WATEGO'S WITH ANGUS, SARAH + SANDY / SAMA COLLECTION
s
We spent a sunny Autumn afternoon with our friends Angus and Sarah and their sweet 9 month year old baby boy
Sandy, at Wategos Beach in our hometown Byron Bay.
Angus is the colourful and energetic front man of our all time favourite band The Babe Rainbow and Sarah,
one of our original Nagnata girls, is an artist and yogi.
We are often inspired by their eclectic vintage wardrobes so we had some fun when they styled the latest Movement 008 collection.
Angus and Sarah emody the Nagnata SAMA uniform philosophy; a genderless collection that is designed to share.
How do you start your day?
S: Angus goes running with Sandy in the pram and I do stretches. We have coffee and normally go to Lennox to the beach.
You guys have a really cool and fun shared wardrobe. Where do you like to shop, and do you shop together?
S: We love going through markets and vintage shops together when we are travelling with the band. It’s always a race to find the best things before Eliot and Ash May lol. As for the shared wardrobe, our clothes go around in circles between family and friends and I love it!
Any op shopping or vintage trawling tips? And where are your favourite vintage stores on the east coast?
S: Angus’s tip for op shopping is to check in the children’s section and the women’s,
he can squeeze himself into anything ha ha and my tip is to look for gems in places where no one else is looking.
If you are doing a long drive its always the small, rural towns that haven’t been raided.
A couple of specific places we have found great things on the east coast are the swop shop in Enmore, the Lismore car boot sale and the Murwillumbah op shops!
A: Nabiac!
The Babe Rainbow recently released a track with Jaden Smith. Tell us how that came about!
S: I think they were sort of musical pen pals which is so cute!!
You are launched an art exhibition " This is the colour of my dreams" last week with Jack + Mark Fearon,
Can you tell us a little about it and what inspired you?
S: Jack makes amazing furniture that is really playful and clever, and I have been making large abstract paintings since finishing art school. We decided to exhibit them together in an intensely, colourful show!
I am inspired by so many different things, I think there is so much to see if we learn to look in different ways.
What is the quality you most like in each other?
A : Among lots of other romantic reasons I really like Sarahs hungry maddog south coast attitude in the waves.
S : His kookiness !
The perfect weekend in the bay?
A: Low tide at the pass. All my friends are there
Where are you happiest?
A: In my Nagnata pieces
Favourite piece/pieces from the SAMA collection and why?
S: I love the Romeo track pants because they are such a great, flattering cut! & Angus loves the sonny crew neck, in red!
